Stockholm International Peace Research Institute figures
This is a list of the fifteen countries with the highest defence budgets for the year 2007. The information is the most up-to-date from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute,[36] which is used to calculate defence spending by the British Ministry of Defence and many other government ministries in the European Union.
The chart on the right includes the police force of France and Italy.
Total World spending amounted to $1.339 trillion in 2007, with about 45% of the total amount spent by the United States.
